Our front landscaping was something of a jungle. There were overgrown rose bushes that looked like they had been a part of some sort of lab experiment they were so large and so strong. There was a plethora of weeds, half-dead plants, and who knows what else in there. (Probably some scary eight-legged creatures-which my husband thankfully hid from me.)
The space curves from the driveway to the front porch. Old stones lined the space, and its a shame we don’t have a picture of them, because they did not curve as perhaps they once did and were a crumbly mess. The whole space looked, well, terrible.
Once the weather was nice and we actually spent time outside we began to realize how much the front needed our attention. One of the hazards of only using your garage to enter your house and going out only to the back yard is that the front is easily ignored.
So one fine spring day we took a trip to the home improvement store while landscaping block we liked were on sale and also grabbed gardening sheers (jungle clippers), leveling rock, some good old fashioned dirt, mulch, and a few plants. I am not a gardener so by a “few” plants I mean precisely five.
The hubs spent many hours clearing out the area and re-grading the dirt, spacing and leveling the landscaping block, cutting them to fit the curve where needed and putting everything snugly into place.
I then planted and we spread out the mulch. (Give that stuff some water!)
Here is the end result:
If I had taken a picture of the before this would be more impressive. Again we received compliments from neighbors walking by so I think our efforts are appreciated.
On to the next.
