We are a classic case of DIY-ers who believe they provided enough time for a home project, but…didn’t. We have had this project going on for a few weeks now, working on some of it full-time using vacation days after the holidays, and then after work and on weekends. However, excited to share the final end product today!
In two previous posts we’ve talked about the tear down of our old dining room and the construction of the new pantry/laundry room. In this post we’ll wrap up with an overview of the third and final stage of this project.
After all the wall and door trim were painted and the paint was dry, we began to work on the floor. Well, the term “we” actually refers to my husband and my dad. I had located flooring on clearance at Lumber Liquidators. We bought all 110 square feet we needed for a good price and spent the day on Saturday installing the flooring.

That night the husband installed the baseboard and I cruised over it with a fresh coat of paint. The next day we began moving items in: the deep freezer from the garage, the washer and dryer from the laundry room, and finally, the storage shelves from the basement with their food and house items.
I was elated once everything was in one space together. Finally, no more trips to the garage and/or basement to cook a meal and everything in one place.
Oh happy day.
